How we started

Many of the Banshees staff where involved in previous teams in the area such as the Severn Vale Royals, Cheltenham Chieftains and the Cotswold Bears. The team was set up by Jim Byrne and Maurice Myers in 2007 and began training in February 2008.

What is a Banshee anyway?

The team nickname is relates to the Banshee as it is usually seen as an omen of death and a messenger from the Otherworld. The team name was chosen by team co-founder Jim Byrne, the Banshee has special significance to Jim Byrne due to his love of Irish myths. No other NFL, CFL or College team has the Banshee as a nickname.
